For an active family, an indoor sportcourt is a great way to stay fit and have fun during Minnesota winters. This Woodbury family wanted to incorporate a sportcourt big enough for 2 hoops, as well as create a lower level space where they could entertain family and friends.
The Gonyea Custom Homes team had to analyze the existing home structure and examine the surrounding land to determine how to properly design a sportcourt addition onto the home. Since the existing home is within an established community, the team also had to consider certain space constraints while achieving a cohesive look for the exterior of the home. The whole plan incorporates functional design while introducing unique, yet practical characteristics, including an indoor balcony that overlooks the two-story sportcourt in place of the original outdoor deck from the existing home.
